Employee appreciation gifts that get used, not shelved
Most employee appreciation gifts are another mug, another fleece or a gift card that disappears into a balance. This one is a full-size 5 oz bottle of hot sauce with the team, the shift or the project on the label. It suits teams of about 48 or more, or smaller ones that keep the extras for new hires, and it ships as one design to one address.

Good to know
Can each bottle have a different employee’s name?
No. Every bottle in a batch shares one label. Name the sauce after the team, the shift or the year, and add names with tags or cards.
Our team is smaller than the minimum. What can we do?
Every order starts at 48 bottles. Smaller teams keep the rest for new-hire kits, visiting clients or next year’s anniversaries, or give a second bottle to everyone to take home to a partner or roommate.
Are employee appreciation gifts taxable?
The IRS generally treats occasional low-value non-cash gifts, such as a holiday gift, as de minimis benefits that aren’t taxed as wages, while cash and gift cards are always taxable (IRS Publication 15-B). This is not tax advice: check with your payroll provider or accountant.
Can you ship a bottle to each remote employee?
Not yet. Each order ships to one US address. Ship to one office or organizer and forward bottles from there, or hand them out when the team next meets.
When is Employee Appreciation Day?
Employee Appreciation Day falls on the first Friday in March each year.
How far ahead should we order?
At least five weeks before you hand the bottles out. Orders usually take two to four weeks from payment to delivery. That range is an estimate, not a delivery date, so the extra week is slack for a slow order.
Can we include a note?
Yes. Add a gift note at checkout and it is printed on the packing slip. For a note to each person, put it on the back panel of the label or on a card.
Can we pay by invoice or purchase order?
Checkout runs through Stripe: pay by card or any other method Stripe offers you, and the receipt comes by email. If your company needs to pay by invoice or purchase order, send a quote request with the quantity and what your accounts team needs, and we’ll reply by email.
Can you rush an order?
Checkout has no rush option. After you pay, printing, bottling and packing take 8–12 business days, then 2–5 business days in transit: usually two to four weeks in all. If the bottles have to arrive by a set date, ask us before you order.
Can a colleague sign off on the label before we order?
Yes. The Studio saves as you work and gives your design its own link: send it to whoever approves the brand, or open the order panel, download the proof PDF and send that. A colleague who opens the link gets their own copy, so your version stays as you left it. Whoever places the order ticks the proof approval at checkout, and nothing is printed until the order is paid.
Employee appreciation gift ideas that work for a whole team
A good team gift is the same for everyone, useful at home, and tied to something the team did. Every bottle in a batch carries one label, so these ideas each start from a single design:
- Employee Appreciation Day, the first Friday in March: one label for the whole company, named after something only your people would get.
- Work anniversaries: an “Another Year Hotter” label kept in the supply closet and handed out as each anniversary comes up, so one order can cover a year of them.
- Shift teams: nurses, warehouse crews, kitchen staff and dispatchers. Name the sauce after the shift, the unit or the dock door.
- A launch or ship day: a sauce named after the release, the codename or the bug that almost sank it, handed out at the wrap-up.
- New-hire welcome kits: a bottle on the desk on day one. The spares from a team order carry the kits through the year.
- Year-end: one batch can thank the team and your clients at once; see holiday client gifts for the client side and the December order-by planner.
- Retirements and farewells: a sauce named after the retiree’s catchphrase, one for everyone at the send-off.
Why a bottle beats another mug
Staff appreciation gifts get judged at the hand-out. A sauce named after the night shift’s running joke gets read out loud at the all-hands, photographed for the team chat and argued over at lunch, and then it goes home in a bag. It suits every role and age on the team, nobody has to pick a size, and nobody has to find room for it on a desk that is already full.
It isn’t for every team. A team of eight is well under the 48-bottle minimum unless you have another use for the rest, and some people avoid spicy food altogether. For a spice-shy group, Glitter Bomb Sweet & Sour (Heat 1/5) is sweet with barely any heat, and a 12 oz BBQ sauce works for people who grill rather than drizzle.
How many bottles for your team
Start from headcount, then add a buffer for people who join before you hand them out, someone who asks for a second bottle, and a few for new-hire kits. For a team of 60 with a 10% buffer you want 66 bottles. Orders come in the minimum and then whole cases, so that rounds up to 72 bottles (the 48-bottle minimum plus one case of 24).
At current pricing that order is $753.00 including shipping, about $12.55 per person on the team, with twelve spare bottles for the year’s new hires. The team calculator on this page runs the same math with your headcount and buffer.
Budget per person
Gift budgets are usually set per person, so divide the order total by headcount rather than by bottles: spares make the per-person figure a little higher than the per-bottle one. The per-bottle cost is lower at larger orders; at the quantities in the pricing table, shipping included:
- 48 bottles: $495.00 in total, $10.31 a bottle.
- 120 bottles: $1,199.00 in total, $9.99 a bottle.
- 240 bottles: $2,057.00 in total, $8.57 a bottle.
Are employee gifts taxed?
The IRS generally treats occasional non-cash gifts of low value, such as a holiday gift, as de minimis fringe benefits that aren’t taxed as wages. Cash and gift cards are a different matter: the IRS counts them as wages whatever the amount (Publication 15-B). A bottle of sauce is a non-cash gift, but how often you give and what else you give can change the answer.
This is general information, not tax advice, so check with your payroll provider or accountant before you plan a year of gifts.
Put the team on the label, not one person
Every bottle in a batch is printed with the same label, so name the sauce after the team, the shift, the site or the year rather than after one employee. To make each bottle personal, tie a name tag around the neck or hand it over with a card from the manager.
If the company logo goes on it, get the approved file from whoever signs off on the brand, usually marketing or HR, before anyone starts designing, and send them the design link from the Studio for a yes before you order. Make the team name the biggest thing on the front, within about 2 inches across, keep the logo smaller, and save the back panel for the thank-you and who it is from. The label guide covers the file and print rules.
Remote and multi-site teams
Each order ships to one US address. For a team spread across offices or working from home, ship the cases to one office or one organizer and forward bottles from there: a small box, bubble wrap around the glass, and the empty space filled. Budget for that postage alongside the order.
If the team meets in person a few times a year, hold the bottles for the all-hands, the offsite or the holiday party and hand them out there. It saves the postage and the thank-you lands in a room full of people.
One sauce for the whole team
With one sauce per batch, choose for the middle of the team. Cajun Cayenne (Heat 2/5), a crowd-pleaser, is savory with a friendly kick. For a team with cautious eaters, Glitter Bomb Sweet & Sour (Heat 1/5) is our mildest. If the team has a few people who want real heat, order the main batch mild or medium and a second batch of Garlic Ghost (Heat 4/5) just for them, if you have 48 people to give it to.
For crews who spend weekends at the grill, a 12 oz Spicy Whiskey BBQ (Heat 2/5) is a separate batch with its own minimum and a bigger label.
When to order
Orders usually take two to four weeks from payment to delivery. That range is an estimate, not a delivery date, so allow at least five weeks before the day you hand bottles out, plus time for tags or cards. For Employee Appreciation Day on the first Friday in March, that means ordering by late January.
For year-end gifts, use the order-by planner on the holiday client gifts page, which counts back from your date and allows for the December rush.
